bruce
The BBC, in association with NHK and JANET(UK), are currently demonstrating super-hi definition video. They are displaying live and pre-recorded content from the large sporting event, with viewing facilities in London, Bradford and Glasgow. The stream is also being sent to Washington, Tokyo and Fukushima. If you get a chance to see this, take it. The video and audio experience is quite simply stunning. There's no other way to express it. The 8K projection is 16x the quality of standard HD, on a 350" screen, with 22 channel surround sound. (and Glasgow apparently has the best display facilities of the 3 UK venues) The 3 UK venues are BBC TV Centre in London, BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow, the National Media Museum in Bradford. There are free (but ticketed) public showings. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/researchanddevelopment/2012/08/the-olympics-in-super-hi-visio.shtmlhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19049341
