mrboo
for that money you will getting very weak led par cans. if you can get about £100 you can pick up 1w per bulb types
timsabre
for that money you will getting very weak led par cans. if you can get about £100 you can pick up 1w per bulb types Not so, I've got some of these from thomann, £75 per unit, they are 36x1W http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_par64_1w_pro_black_floor.htm Impressive brightness, fairly narrow beam (about 20deg), dimming is steppy at the bottom.4 of them are lighting the rear of the hall in the photo below. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/c67.0.403.403/p403x403/484465_133906796738412_180294843_n.jpg

bigclive
And that's just four? Quite impressive actually.
timsabre
And that's just four? Quite impressive actually. The venue staff couldn't believe it, especially when I told them the price. It transformed the hall from a gloomy council venue to something interesting looking with about 2 minutes work.
rossmck
Those look quite impressive, certainly for uplighting and such. Just to play elephant in the room - how's the dimming curve on them ?
timsabre
Those look quite impressive, certainly for uplighting and such. Just to play elephant in the room - how's the dimming curve on them ? As you would expect at that price, it's steppy for the first few levels at the bottom, but fine elsewhere, they do have a variable speed fan which is quiet but audible in silent rooms. For a quick bosh in uplighting fixture they are excellent - I've got the floor can version so you just plonk them down. You can set a range of fixed colours on the dipswitches if DMX control is not needed - I used 2 set on purple in this pub gig for uplighting the black curtain at the back, along with a couple of (non-led) par56 floor cans with diffuser to lift the performer a bit. Total setup time about 5 minutes. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/36576_292201627527917_1858121334_n.jpg
peza2010
They do look great for the money. I don't suppose they do a quad colour version do they? I've had a quick look but the thomann site is hard work on my phone.
Lobster Lighting
Interesting, how long have you had them? ive got a load of these, http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_par_64_black_floor.htm which are obviously much cheaper and not as powerfull, use them for basic uplighting and small band in pub type work. how ever the dip switches on them are rubbish, many of them can not be addressed properly now and I know im not the only one thats had this issue with them. so I was wondering how youve found switches? also the XLR out? a few of mine have lost the push button same as in the thread at the top of this section. timsabre
For the price, they have been great and I haven't had any problems with bits dropping off. When I bought them last December, Thomann did 4 versions (silver/black, floor/hanging), now I can only see the black floor version so I wonder if they are about to be obsoleted.
