Thanks PJ,

The support guys from the US gave me a call its all sorted now :)

The only thing I cant seem to find on the strand website is the library editer thinggy, the software you use to create new moving light and LED fixture libraries...

Any ideas?

Care to share what the solution was? It's always useful to post such things for the benefit of other users having the same issue.

Yeah, they said it was a common error by most people. Once the zip folder is on the memory stick, it needs to be unzipped, and there should only be one copy of it on the memory stick, multiple copies corrupt the USB driver.

Also another thing they have suggested is using the highest storage memory stick possible.

I don't suppose there is any more detail?

We've been having the exact same problem with our console, We called the helpline in the US a couple of nights ago and were on the phone with them for 20 minutes to no end before the connection dropped out.

These are the steps that we have followed but still no dice

1) Get a standard USB stick (size doesn't matter, nor does the file system (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, exFAT)) Nothing else is on stored on this stick

2) Download both parts of the fixture library from the strand website for the 24/48 console,

3) Unzip both parts and copy to the USB stick. On the USB stick there should now be one folder called STR20048 with 5 more folders inside

4) Power off console, insert USB stick and power on

5) USB stick should now be able to be read by the console.

To update the software, download from the strand website, and working in a sequential order from currently installed version of the firmware (in our case 1.24) copy the next (1.25) *.bin file into the SRT20048 folder.

Plug into desk and try to update the firmware

However when we try to either update the firmware or even copy files on and off the USB stick on the console all we get is a USB NOT READY error message...

This is getting really really frustrating aye. We've got this really annoying issue with our console (and perhaps the subject of another post) whereby if you have a fader set at say 50 the value (on the screen and being output over DMX) will swing between about 47 and 53. Its causing havoc with our system and we're hoping that a firmware update will resolve the issue

Cheers

James

The zip file does not come in the correct file structure which is why it says "USB NOT READY"

if you format the structure as follows it should work.

If it is a 12/24 the folder it is going to start looking for is STR20024

\STR20024\DMXBASE\

\STR20024\FLIB\

\STR20024\LEDLIB\

\STR20024\LIB\

\STR20024\VGA\

\STR20024\ SOFTWARE.BIN

for a 24/48 it is STR20048

\STR20048\DMXBASE\

\STR20048\FLIB\

\STR20048\LEDLIB\

\STR20048\LIB\

\STR20048\VGA\

\STR20048\SOFTWARE.BIN

Hey

Thanks for the reply, We downloaded the fixture library from the Strand website (which has the same file / folder structure) but no joy with that. We then tried deleting all the files out of the folders leaving the bare folders but still nothing, Finally we tried reformatting the stick and creating just the folders with those exact names but still no luck

I don't suppose there are any other tricky things that could have potentially gone wrong?

Regards

James

Hi we have tried this too - even took a brand new USB flash and made the files exactly like specified - but to no avail we can not back up or upload to the desk - it is running the latest version of the software (arrived with it on) - would love to load the desk with our fixtures but can't so would appreciate help as we really want to use the LED and ML functions without eating into our precious 96 (48/48) sliders for these extra's.

I have the solution, strand support send me this and it's WORK

Something to try is to disable artnet. If you go into the Menu under Artnet configuration make sure that is disabled. The artnet has a conflict with the usb port and the 24.48 is sent out with it enable. Let me know if that works. Thanks.Matthew Peters, Strand Tech Support Specialist

GREAT THANKS to Matthew

Hi All,

a bit late to the party here, but I have just done this, after a few weeks of thinking I was f*cking it up.

so here are the critical steps, as I couldn't find a definitive guide.

1. use a small USB stick. (I used a 1gb Freebie from a conference)

2. Download Both files from the Strand Website for your desk (12/24, 24/48) here http://www.strandlighting.com/index.php?xsearch%5B0%5D=Controls&xsearch%5B1%5D=200+Plus+Series+Console&xsearch%5B2%5D=Fixture+Library&submit=Search&xsearch_id=Downloads_Search&src=directory&srctype=downloads_lister&view=downloads&submenu=

Copy both of these onto the USB. there will be some duplicates, but just ignore those.

3. Download the software versions here http://www.strandlighting.com/index.php?xsearch%5B0%5D=Controls&xsearch%5B1%5D=200+Plus+Series+Console&xsearch%5B2%5D=Software&submit=Search&xsearch_id=Downloads_Search&src=directory&srctype=downloads_lister&view=downloads&submenu=

Keep this in a flie on your desktop.

4. open the STR20048 file on your USB, and add the relevant .bin file to the directory.

5. POWER OFF THE DESK. Insert the USB. Power on the desk.

6. using the menu, install the SW. When it is finished, check the install. (menu/next x 4/ Rev1.xx). Enjoy the sense of relief when it happens.

7. do the next update. DO THEM SEQUENTIALLY. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO SKIP ONE...

7A. Crucially, 1.26 did not register as being installed. I took a flyer and did 1.27, because I'm reckless.

Walk tall for the rest of the day, and when the folk in the office ask why you look so happy, just smile knowingly, and say "oh Nothing, just some technician stuff..."

Ste

PS, it had nothing to do with ARTNet
