Smallsy
Just thought I'd share this Dancing show that I was fascinated by. It looks incredible http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iHJkyMo9MtU Ideas on how they the costumes are made?
Spock
Brilliant (pun intended). EL panels and a wireless protocol to turn them on and off, maybe?
indyld
Brilliant (pun intended). EL panels and a wireless protocol to turn them on and off, maybe? What would be really impressive is the performers operating the suits on and off themselves with pressure pads in their hands, but that would take even more rehearsal. The low tech way is still possible, even in 2012. The performance is an interesting parallel with elements of modern lighting programming, the dancers "marking" while they are blacked out (actually, I expect they don't seem to mark, so much as just carry on dancing). Would love to see it in full working light too. It also ties with some of the basic effects that have developed in the moving light style, perhaps the most obvious being a large slow circle, centred out front, with a shutter chase revealing and hiding the beams in their different positions as they move around. In this case, the dancers keep moving and they are revealed mid-move in the same way. A really well conceived and executed, seemingly simple idea.
