'University of Glamorgan - Graduand Showcase Event

Recommended Posts

I am currently finishing a degree in BSC(Hons)Live Event Technology at University of Glamorgan.

For our final year projects we have been developing products for the live event industry; these are a mixture of Lighting, Audio/AV & Rigging/Engineering based products.

I would like to extend an open invite to Blue Room members for our Graduand Showcase Event at Wales Millennium Centre on 29th/30th March. We will be showcasing our products including working prototypes as well as various other stalls/demonstrations. This represents a great opportunity to network with students and other attending industry professionals; details below.

If your are interested in attending this event please PM me or email bengummery(at)btinternet.com and I will keep you up-to-date. Please also pass this invitation to any other interested parties if you wish.

In addition if there are any businesses/individuals that would be interested in supporting and/or exhibiting at the event in some form I would love to hear from you so this can be discussed further.

Just out of interest (I would love to go to something like this, but it just isn't practical!), what sort of things have you been developing (just as a little taster!)? http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

I don't know all of them; I'll try and link to the Event Brochure when it gets published. A few that I know of: Automated Muting System, Mist Screen, 'Truss Tidy', Inflatable Structure, DMX Automated Barn-Door system, A tracking system that fixtures can be attached to, A games controller interface for lighting consoles.

Thanks Ben for posting this. It turns out the times for Thursday are still 4-8, a small bit of miscommunication and lack of writing things down when the times were verbally firmed this didn't make it onto paper

I'm one of the project managers for this event so if anyone wants some more information drop me an email on 09017275@glam.ac.uk and I'll do my best to fill you in (I have a full list of groups and projects)

Well done to all involved, it was good show with some interesting product ideas and obviously a lot of hard work gone into them. Quite a few of them seemed to really have legs and fulfill a genuine need.

And a really good experience for students having to man their stand at a trade show and justify and sell a new product to every passing Tom, Dick or Harry.

Good stuff.
