Hi there.

I`m going to build 2 or more giant popup books for stageuse.

Their measure is approx. 4 m. tall and folded out (open book) about 7 m.

Each page should contain a small set - at this time not specified.

Does anyone have any ideas on this subject regarding materials,info or tech.

Hope I did everything right as I am new to this group.

Always thought the principles could be scaled up , using hardboard or ply and gaffer tape or glued canvas strip as the hinge mechanism.

 

At your scale weight might become a problem, so mebbe look into some grade of fire resistant corrugated cardboard, if it exists, or `twinwall` plastics, used for greenhouse roofing, might get the weight stiffness level right.

The size/stiffness/weight requirements look daunting but there is a whole range of fire-retardant foamboard used in the exhibition industry avaialble in suitable sizes (its actually foam between aluminium foils). Companies that mount pictures onto exhibition stands may help you.
