dbuckley
How do you store your intercom kit? Currently I have a cardboard box with the beltpacks in the bottom, and headsets piled on top, but there must be a better solution?
david.elsbury
One of the venues here in Auckland (well actually The Edge, who do Town Hall/ Civic/ Aotea Centre) use clear plastic lunchboxes, which have 1 beltpack and 1 headset in each box. Easy to keep track of, keeps everything together, easy to pack/transport, and provides ample protection David
GridGirl
I've seen those plastic cube crates used - a bit more robust than a cardboard box! You might be able to do something with one of those cases which has foam in sections that you can pull out to create a custom shape - depends how many headsets and beltpacks you have, I guess - could need more than one case. Pete McCrea
Most I've seen have a custom foamed case, generally with a pocket for each device. Depends on how often and in what quantities they go out in. We'll probably go down the modular route of 4 belt packs and headsets per foam. That way we'll be able to send 4 and base station or 8 sets in one of our briefcases.
Ashley R
Seen sets of 4-6 headsets supplied in a very quickly made timber 'case' Which just had foam lined partitions in it, with a smaller partition for the belt pack, and a larger one right next to it for the head set. Then just keep on making the case as wide as you want to fit an appropriate amount of packs and headsets. Also had a large slot at the top of the case to store a decent number of cables to run said packs.
mr_towers
Ours is kept in a large locker with a rail in the top which the headsets hang on. I've seen the flightcases too, but this is a bit more of an out of the box idea - If you need to shift/store a large number of headsets and packs, what about making your own carrier? Something that looks like an old style toolbox that either travels in it's own box or has a closable lid. Rail at the top (handle) for the headsets to hang on (works best with single muff), below this is space for your packs (foam lined and separated), and a box or lid to keep it secure. Probably something any decent chippy could build with some dowel, ply, catches and flightcase foam. You could go mad and include a drawer in the bottom for cabling/PSU if you really wanted. :) Otherwise, plus one for the flightcase briefcases. Unless it's techpro headsets you use, which annoyingly don't fold.
Kingstech
We store our in one of two ways.. we brought the canford Headsets a while back and we keep the boxes that they came in which has a small box for the beltpack and one for the headset and the beltpack fits in th box with the headset.. Another way we sometimes store them is using Really Useful Boxes, they range from like 0.1L right up to 84L we have the beltpacks in a small RUB and the headset in a larger RUB similar to the one above.. all headsets, beltpacks and box are numbered accordingly.. Then all of the boxes of headsets fit in to a large RUB and they all stay in the same place with a log of what goes out, where and who take them out. TeeJay
We currently have two different storage for our in-house comms. The wired packs are stored lined up on a shelf with the headsets on wooden pegs above with the leads coiled up and stored over the ear muff (if you alternate single muff Tec-Pro headsets, you can get a lot more onto a single wooden peg than you might expect) and spare cable is kept on another hanger close by. Wireless packs are kept in those open plastic trays that are dirt cheap from stationary shops (like Staples, Key, Slingsby et al). One wireless pack and headset per tray and several trays to a shelf. Batteries and chargers are on the same shelving unit Of course, this is for one venue so the packs doesn't need to travel about very much ... YMMV (amd probably will ...) mark_s
White Light use small utility cases with the cubed foam that you can remove to make custom shapes, with a narrow 'slot' to hold two beltpacks and a large 'square' for the two headsets (which are a bit of a squeeze due to the mic).
