LED lekos (profiles) etc

Hi,

we are putting a new space together, and under some pressure to save electricity.

I am not really a big fan of LED lighting, but it looks like it is progressing somewhat.

What do you think of the new Juliat Lekos for example? Other thoughts about LED's?

I know that this implies a lot of extra DMX cable, more programming time, and perhaps some issues about mixing with tradition lighting (leds are more blue than red).

I don't dislike the wash fixtures for cyclos, etc.

How bout the fresnels?

All comments are welcome,

thanks

From what I saw at Plasa this year, for example with some of the new Robe washes that use 10W Cree RGBA LEDs, they have a choice of colour temperature and dimmer curve that lets them closely mimic conventional tungsten washes. The technology is definitely getting there - however, the cutting-edge stuff doesn't offer quite the power savings that were hoped for, using around half the power of conventional fixtures for a similar light output - and the initial cost is quite high, so it would take a while to recoup your investment.

The intermediate RGB fixtures that have been around for a couple of years are much more cost-effective, but just don't do a decent white. So, it comes down to your budget in the end.
