bigbert
HelloI'm not sure if these exist or not - but I'm after a 20m VGA & 13A power cable within the one cable jacket.Anyone know of a place I could get? cheersBert
TomHoward
Likewise - I've also been looking for the above, but I'd add a couple of audio lines to that as well. I was considering making some kind of stage box that looms out at each end.
Stuart91
I wonder if it might be an easier task to track down a cable which has mains, and 5 or more coax cores, which would let you run RGBHV? Possibly some kind of camera cable might fit the bill?
Gareth A
This company may be able to help. http://www.hcal.co.uk/complex_looms.html
bigbert
hello again, cheers for replies @Gareth A - Sent an email to the company you recommended - waiting for a reply now @ Stuart91 - I'd prefer to have D'subminiature connector as the cable shall be used for a LCD computer monitor however I'm not ruling it out Bert
sleepytom
you can get expandable braided tubing which you feed normal cables down. Heatshrink the ends for neatness and you get very dependable looms which coil much better than looms where the individual cables are repetitively taped together at short intervals down the loom. http://connectorco.co.uk/catalogue/cable_sleeving.htm is a selection of such things, CPC also do similar tubing. you can get a tool to help feed the cables down the tubing, this might make the process a little easier with VGA cables with moulded ends. Peter F
you can get a tool to help feed the cables down the tubing, this might make the process a little easier with VGA cables with moulded ends. Tape the ends together and put a small freezer bag over them. Fashion a sort of hook thingamajig from part of a wire coathanger and Bob's yer uncle. Cable tie each end and heat shrink to stop it fraying and slipping. Cheers,Peter
david.elsbury
If you go down that route, would suggest gluelined heatshrink as well to hold the ends well.
Pete McCrea
Though watch the heat from the gun - first time I ever used braided sleeving and adhesive heatshrink, I melted through the sleeving whilst shrinking the stuff round the cables. Except the sleeving retracked as it melted, and left the end of the sleeving loose, and some straggly bits of braid stuck under the now shrunk and sticky heat shrink. Fail.... sleepytom
:) Good work Pete! Mind you having said that I melted my hand last time I used a heat gun, so I guess us vidiots should probably find someone else to do these dangerous tasks. (!) bigbert
Got a reply from HCAL want a minimum order of 2000m which is a tad useless.I had considered the expandable braiding option but I was looking for a more off the shelf solution, however I can see myself having to get my heat gun out ..... hydrus
I don't know of any premade cable but I do know Sommer Cable has something that comes quite close to what you want: http://www.sommercable.com/2__produkte/2__030_meterware/2__600_0631_05.html I would put some BNC's on the coax and use a short premade cable to go from 5xBNC (RGBHV) to HD15 (VGA)
dbuckley
Got a reply from HCAL want a minimum order of 2000m which is a tad useless.Try to persuade Canford they want to stock it? Or (E2A) possibly better, CPC. Paging Chris!!!
