Illuminatio
We are making props for a forthcoming production of the Tempest which features a disappearing banquet. Has anyone got any (cheap) ideas for how this can be achieved? I've used the old flip-top table trick in the past which may have to do, but I never found it entirely satisfactory. The table will probably be fairly small - about 600mm square.
Jivemaster
Really soft foam artificial banquet items that can be pulled trough the "table" (animatronics by Cedd )
w/robe
Last year for our production we had a table that came out of the floor, it was quite low and the top was a trap in a frame. The food was put on the table and then, at the required moment, the trap which hinged on the DS edge dropped part way the food slid off and down the hole under the table and the trap closed again. The table then slowly descended to become part of the false stage floor once more. Our problems were exacerbated by the fact that the stage was quite steeply raked but the table top had to be flat.
