Light Console
Pah! just fixed the USB's, had to un-install infrared modem for an old Nokia 'phone, then they worked. So have ditched all and gone for a USB TV tuner box. Thanks for posts, and to Lightguy, great idea, which hadn't crossed my mind (which is not a long journey ;) ). However, as it will be used in Menorca, Spain next year, I was unsure if they had Digital, and if they did, would it work the same?!?
AaronHorn
hi,I use a videonics MX1 vision mixer, but when I use it with a laptop the screen is very flickery and weird.. I'm using the S-video output from the laptop.. any ideas why this might be? I was thinking of trying to get a convertor to plug in that will take a standard monitor output and convert it to composite video.. anybody used one? recon this would work better? thankschris<{POST_SNAPBACK}> This reply may be a little late, presumably you are running directlyfrom S-Video out of your laptop to S-Video in of you vision mixerand are not using any convertors. Secondly I assume you have setyour laptop to output PAL-I (UK PAL) at a low resolution/refresh rateand your mixer is designed for PAL-I use. It's also worth mentioningthat if you are trying to play DVD videos you could encountermacrovision technologies. I have found this to be the case evenif I ran certain video players such as PowerDVD. You don't mention how you are displaying your image. Unless Ihave misunderstood something, I am assuming you are usinga projector, in which case could you be encountering a videoearth loop? I have had this problem before, it causes a rollingimage along with extreme fuzzyness. IIRC we only resolved itby running d-sub datacable directly to the projector. Othersuggestions are to try and run the mixer and projector from thesame power source (socket if need be) and to try running thelaptop without a power supply to see if any difference can be found. There are expensive earth removing solutions available but itmay be worth looking at shieled cabling and high quality connections. -- Regards,Aaron.
