danyoung
So I'm lighting a small christmas-themed musical revue this weekend. I've been trying to think of some cheesey (but nice) lighting effetcs I can do (with a really simple rig) during a couple of musical numbers. I had a mad idea involving flooding the whole stage kinda red, adding on top a load of white break-up gobo stuff and add a spotlight CS so you can actually see the soloist. Might it look naff? Any funky ideas appreciated! ;)

danyoung
We don't have anything like that. In fact, all I'm going to have is a load of half-K lanterns rejected from the play that's going on at the same time ;)
peter
Couple of sets of fairy lights, draped in big loops off an LX bar, connected to a dimmer (make sure they're sets that run at 230v and not through a transformer). Red & Green alternating areas on the stage? Mirrorballs?
danyoung
Ahh the mirrorball ... "once upon a december" ... I see it now ;) I was thinking a nice primary red - is there an appropriate green that would look christmassy?
