Be wary of heat transfer printers tho! Looks great until you heat shrink and the lables go black!

We use www.Pixart.it for printing our in-house designed labels, their small 2"x1" ish labels set us back a £100 or so for about 1000. We then trap these under clear heatshrink. We tend to order made up cables from VDC, and specify that they put a piece of heatshrink on the cable.

We have a Dymo Rhino that could use heatshrink, however, we've not gone this route, simply because we've used the above method for the last 4 years....

We use a Rhino Pro printer and clear heat shrink and haven't encountered any problems with the labels blacking over - we did have problems with this on a Brother paper label printer we tried though.

One other thing I'd say is that the heat shrink you get that is directly printable isn't available in very large diameters, and in my experience doesn't wear as well as a vinyl label under clear heat shrink either - the printing wears off fairly quickly.

Also worth mentioning that you can get heat shrink over a Neutrik XLR if you take the metal chassis off.
