Jemma
Bit of a longshot, but does anyone have a wooden / fibre-glass / vacform cast iron style radiator I would be able to borrow / hire for 3 months? We just want to use it as dressing in a corridor, but a real one is too heavy to tour and our budget is not large enough to have one made. Many thanks. Brian
Just a thought but how accurate does it have to look? Have you thought about using an oil-filled radiator? £40 from my local wholesaler and weighing just 15kg. Take the controls off.
J Pearce
Derby Playhouse used to have a very realistic wooden one, but goodness knows who has it now. Shouldn't be too hard to make though. The playhouse one was made from lots of square rings of mdf with routed edges with mdf rings in the middle as spacers. It looked very convincing. Jemma
Thanks chaps. Sadly we don't have time / money / facilities for making, but I think the oil-filled version may be a go-er. My flu-addled brain needed someone else to help on this one, so much appreciated!
timtheenchanteruk
is an oil filled really lighter than just a cast radiator of comparable size? or is it just that they are easier to get hold of?
Brian
is an oil filled really lighter than just a cast radiator of comparable size?Much lighter. They're made of pressed steel so much less material involved.

Just a wild guess but even lighter if you remove the oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
timtheenchanteruk
Ok, never thought of removing the oil.... we usually end up beg/stealing/borrowing stuff so it has to go back as it was when we got it, taking the controls off would be ok, not draining the oil though...
