mostlyharmless
The mp3 standard (MPEG-1 Layer 3) was defined in 1991. Thats nearly 20 years ago! The same people then defined AAC (advanced audio codec), which has then had a number of revisions (you can't get more advanced than advanced, so the name hasn't changed). This is also the audio standard used in MPEG-4. I'd take a guess at how aac/mp4 hasn't taken off yet, then this is going to go a similar way. Which is unfortunate, as mp3 isn't the best coding out there.

People are still improving AAC and MPEG1 Layer 3 codecs although the 'bang for buck' is diminishing now. This MusicDNA thing doesn't appear to be a new and improved audio codec (remember MP3Pro?) it just appears to be a new container format with lots of DRM and privacy invading features in it. It will probably go down like a lead balloon.
