stevieboi
Hi Just after a bit of clarification here. I am wondering how I calculate wattage and ohms when linking speakers together? I know that the ohms halve, but does the wattage of the speaker stay the same? ie: Speakers rated 350w @ 8 Ohms Amp (400w @ 8 Ohms / 600w @ 4 Ohms) Amp Channel 1 -> Speaker 1 ->Linked to Speaker 2 4ohms 4 ohms so does each speaker receive 600w, or is it halved in a similar way to the ohms? dan slv-tech
400 watt amp can only deliver that between the 2 speakers so in theory each box would see 200 watts-
bruce
That's not quite right... The amp can deliver 400W into 8 ohms or 600W into 4 ohms. So connect the amp to 2 paralleled speakers (4 ohm load) it could potentially deliver 600W, which would be split 300W per speaker.
KevinE
You say the amp is 400W at 8ohms..is that per channel, or in total? Some manufacturers add up left and right and give that as the power output to make it seem more.
