richard
Hello I have just recieved a quote for a Sharkstooth gauze I need making up, and the company have suggested that they can save around £100 by rotating the material through 90 degrees of it's normal direction - it is only a small stage.. How much does this matter? What will it look like? Any ideas.. Richard
Mikey
Hiya, Don't reckon it makes any difference at all!
Dazzler
How are you using the Gauze. Check with your designer and Lx designer, If they are ok with it then go fot it, make the saving!
robloxley
I assume there would only be a difference if the weave is not the same side to side as end to end (if you see what I mean). Maybe the drape company can advise on this?
peter
Presumably you could side light a side on gause, and achieve the same effect as top-lighting a normal one?
Tomo
Sharkstooth will hang differently when put sideways, due to the shape of the weave - it's got a definate top and bottom to it. I *think* the main difference will be that the weight of the fabric and conduit/chain will tend to tighten up the gauze so it won't dissolve quite as well as when hung the 'normal' way up.I doubt it will really matter most of the time. I'd suggest you get hold of a small sample of the stuff (out of somebody's raven store?) and see how it stretches in the two directions. If you're happy with the tightness of the weave and the deformation of the fabric, make the saving! Jivemaster
Its as much to do with the number and orientation of the seams (vert /Horiz) and how well they suit the design. I think gauze seams usu run horizontally, the seams dont disolve!!
robloxley
Given sharks-tooth gauze generally comes in 10.97m wide rolls of about 50m long, you are really talking about a big gauze if you need seams!
