Tried using the DMX in on the strand 300 tonight ,with a sub set as either of the DMX in setting, and the channels correctly patched the rest of the desk seemed to slow down, the sub flash buttons appeared "sticky" and chase step wasn't snapping like it normally does . SO this the desk showing its age? Or have I buggered up a setting somewhere. The DMX in was coming from one of those Enttec open dongles, and Chamsys software

Try running the batch file 220CLEAN.

I have heard that some 300 Series Consoles fail to output DMX when there is not enough free memory.

1) Save your show and make a floppy backup, perhaps two!

2) Delete any show files and their backups that you don’t need.

3) Exit to DOS (see below) and type 220CLEAN. Answer YES to all the questions.

4) Shut down and restart the board.

5) Reload the show.

It would be nice to know if this fixes the problem.

Alan.

How to Exit to DOS:

Startup – Ctrl Break on first Green Startup Splash Screen

Shutdown – Q then CR on Green Closedown Splash Screen

220CLEAN.BAT (From Strand Help File)

This is a useful tool for cleaning up the console's hard disk. You are advised to save your current show before running it. Run it by typing 220CLEAN, and it prompts you if you want to:

Check and display the console's PC resources

Delete the working files used to hold the current show. This is useful if you are experiencing erratic or unusual operation.

Check AND FIX any hard disk corruption. You may need to reload the Operating Software if errors appear.

Defragment the hard disk, which may result in a significant increase in console speed after this is done.

Check AND FIX any hard disk corruption caused by defragmentation

Check that the Operating Software files are correctly installed You may need to reload the Operating Software if errors appear.

Have you tried with a different DMX source? Those Enttec open dongles rely on the host PC to create the DMX datastream, and it may be that your desk and your PC are creating the DMX data at different rates (still at 250kbps, but with different packet sizes/break times/Mark After Break times/etc) This may mean that the desk is always waiting for the PC to send a complete DMX packet before the outputting the combined DMX streams.

Just for your information, what you're doing works perfectly on an ADB Vision 10 :)

yea ok, pity it cant run the latest software <_< Top tip,the chamsys software works very well on the eee top all in one p.c, having a touch screen makes something good even better.just got to save enough pennies to get the fader wing.

Try running the batch file 220CLEAN.

will give that a try, did try loading a previous show, but didn't have the time to go to far .Luckily the show wasn't a flash button frenzy. Not too sure on running a defrag as its a chip disk, but if a 220 clean don't work I'll have a poke around, I'm an Ole dosser so c:> holds no fear.
