choo choo Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I am doing a show at mo that required a live cat - I was very reluctant to use one - and a reasonable puppet one has been used - but it still looks like a puppet unfortunately. The question is - what regulations or licenses cover animal welfare in theatre or studio enviroment. There is an HSE directive that covers the human aspect of it where there is a risk assessment requirement. That protects the humans - but what about the animals?
robloxley Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 The RSPCA are useful, and are often involved with welfare of animals for pantos etc., and should at least be able to give you some pointers.
lucy_ironside Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 I have a feeling that you should check with the local council who presumably issue the licence for the venue.
Suzette Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 As Lucy said - you will need a "live animal on stage" licence, which the local council or entertainment authority will issue. Get in touch with the Technical Manager of the theatre - they will be able to supply you with the right name to contact - or may even contact them on your behalf if you ask nicely. Most Tech Mgrs are in regular contact with their licencing officer.....
Bryson Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 The other thing is that Cats aren't like dogs - it'll do whatever it likes - run away, lick it's a**e, scratch the set up - whatever is least convenient...
