dominicgross
from a mixing point of view, Protools is the most powerfull: but also the most expensive cause you have to buy their hardware. The cubase mixers are pretty good however: just depends wat u wanna do with them.

Andrew C
You used to be able to get a pretty useful free download of Cool Edit (only two sets of functions at a time) but I don't know how Adobe are handling that side of it. The Pro version does more than I know what to do with... If that makes sense.
Lena
Adobe are offering upgrades from cool edit to audition for $69, I have no idea what that is in english. Or to buy audition new is something over $200.Have a look on their web site, www.adobe.comThey have a demo of audition to download too.
