jt45281
Hi, wondering if anyone can help me solve this problem.... I am running some mac 250's off a USB dongle and all bar one of them work fine (despite their age!). The problem is that with one of them, the lamp strikes when it is switched on, but as soon as it receives a DMX command (such as pan/tilt) the bulb switches off. If I then try to strike the bulb via the software 'HOT' appears in the display window. After waiting a few mins and striking the bulb manually on the light it will re-ignite, only to cut out again...any ideas? All of the other lights work fine, so I know that its not a problem with the computer/DMX interface. Thanks Jamie
niclights
Have you tried setting the other units to the same DMX address as the problem unit to see if they all then do it?
Ben
sounds like its overheating, thermal sensor would be my first point of call
woody74
Or maybe a fan has died, increasing the core temperature?
Ben
Just one thing, take a look at the manual it does have a trouble shooting part which I know for a fact has the error "HOT" described and talks about a lamp cutting out. As a general point its always worth looking in the manual before posting a problem because all the common problems will be in there so you wont have to wait for an answer or for 20 answers all just guessing as we cant carry out any tests without seeing the unit. KevinE
See my former post about some Robe 150XT's which did exactly this...ie extinguishing the lamp when the head is moved. It turned out to be an arcing lamp cable where it flexes the most. The current only has to be interrupted or shorted for a brief period and of course the lamp will go out and have to cool down. Germaine
I think the best advice here is niclights. If the lamp extinguishes as soon as you plug DMX in or 5 or so seconds afterwards I'd be tempted to say you're sending a lamp of command. It is possible to disable the DMX lamp of command and that is shown via the manual.
