Hi Graeme,

 

#117 is normally a Rosco colour. The hash in front of the number denotes Rosco. Lee 117 is steel blue. So the answer is no (well, not usualy) :D

As you are just starting out, I would stick to one brand at the moment and learn what you like and don't. Later on you can look at other brands and there equivilants,

Rosco make a range called e-colour which has the same numbers (and colours) as Lee's basic range (minus the 300s and 700s)

 

Lees range is more frequently found in this country than Roscos...but this is by no means exclusive.

 

You'll frequently get plans with Rosco, Lee and even Gam colours on, as Peter says designated by #, L, or G.
