BenHowitt
Does anyone have any specific (and cheap) ideas for learning DMX protocol? Thanks in advance, BenHowitt
gareth
"Learning" DMX protocol? Unless you mean memorising a very very very long string of 1s and 0s, your question doesn't really make any sense.

gareth
Pretty much what I had in mind, yeah. Any advice?Eh? What you had in mind was learning a tediously long sequence of binary digits so that you can 'speak' DMX?! I really don't know what to say to that ... Bryson
What Gareth is trying to tell you is that DMX protocol is not designed to be "read" by human beings. It's decoded by a chip: there's no way you can learn it. I think perhaps you've phrased your question ambigously: Do you mean: how do I address something using dip switches? Or do you mean: how do I plug together a DMX controlled lighting system? Or something else? Those are questions we can answer. What do you need to know? (Be specific.) BenHowitt
This, is what we call confusing people in truly fantastic ways. Just forget it and let the subject sink quickly into the mires of irrelevance. I also got confused
