frosty55
Howdy chaps. Want to buy a pair of Eminence Kappa 15LF drivers, but havent sorted the actual cabs to put them in. Whats the smallest size you can make the cabs, that being a ported design? Any sites that have drawings and sizes of self build bins? ta. :)

Ben Langfeld
Surely that's the wrong way round to design cabs? Why have you chosen the driver before the cab?

jimtech
Have you tried Eminence website. They'll even sell you a book on how to do it. I owned it once, it's very good. http://www.eminence.com/resources/cabinets.asp

saturnx21
Surely that's the wrong way round to design cabs? Why have you chosen the driver before the cab? That would depend on what exactly you want the cab/driver to do! Look at what you want from a cab/speaker and then spend time looking at both designs and drivers at the same time as some drivers and cab's are suited to different applications. The OP has selected the Eminence Kappa 15LF and from what I know of the driver it is suited to many types and designs of cab and if the cab used is suited to the driver and is well made the OP should get a nice set up and should be pleased with the results if the right cab is selected for the type of application and music that the cab/speaker will be used for. :** laughs out loud **:
frosty55
...the right cab is selected for the type of application and music that the cab/speaker will be used for. ;) I want a small pair of bassbins to be used alongside the mids for playing small pubs. Bass and kick is all that the bins will be pushing. I thought a 600watt driver should be o.k. for what I want. The bins they will be in need to be as small as possible, without going overboard.Dont know , mind, how to calculate the maths for that WINISD that was suggested. Any thoughts chaps? saturnx21
Try the Fane website, they have a design for a 15" bas cab that is relatively compact and should work fairly well with your Eminence drivers or (and this is the one I would use) have a look on speaker plans as has already been suggested and have a look at the HD 15 horn found here You will not be disappointed with a pair of them!!! I know someone who built his own cabs and used Fane frivers in them, (yes he bought the fane drivers first!!!!) and then used the fane construction mannual to create the cabs and have got a brilliant sound out of them. If anyone wants the fane booklet PM me and I can email it to you.
