jonhole
Hi Guys!Quick question as I'm slightly confused! Looking around eBay and I found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVI-I-MALE-TO-3-X-RC...7QQcmdZViewItem As far as I knew, DVI can't carry audio (unlike HDMI etc), and a quick search around says the same thing, so why is this cable splitting DVI into 3 x RCA? Cheers all, apologies if the answer is really obvious and I've missed it!
Steve Cavill
Very strange, never knew this either. A google search turns up this: http://www.theavguide.co.uk/view_page.php?page=34 Which again, suggests that it CANNOT be done.
peternewman
It is giving analogue component RGB video, i.e. separate red green and blue colour signals. Note also the fact its DVI-I, so will probably be using the VGA portion of the signal. Its the same as the leads to split a VGA to 5 BNC, only this is ignoring the H and V sync. Nick Mawer
Peter is right, for example, our product VP-416 http://www.kramerelectronics.co.uk/indexes...asp?name=VP-416 outputs 720p and 1080i on a DVI-I connector in both analogue and digital formats, so you could buy one of these connectors, stick it in our VP-416 and have the analogue outputs. However, this post raises another interesting point - DVI and audio. It is perfectly possible to pass digital audio through a DVI connector. You embed it into a video stream in the same way that HDMI does. Therefore if you start off with an HDMI signal, you can use adapters to pass the signal through DVI cable.
