Steve Cavill
Hi guys, Looking to re top some of the Lite Deck in stock for a gig coming up with Macralon. Did a google search and it comes up with a load of robot wars stuff, which isnt really helpful, as most of the companies dont exist any longer. Does anyone know where this can be sourced from? Particularly the 5mm and 18mm. Cheers,Steve
Brian
Just use your local engineering plastics company and if you didn't know Makrolon (not Macralon) just a trade name for Polycarbonate.
Steve Cavill
Ah....excellent information, thanks! Worked with it previously, however the actually Makrolon was supplied by the gig operators, and they just wanted it putting on our decks. Now time to use it myself! Much appreciated, thanks! Tomo
Another common trade name for polycarbonate is "Lexan" It's really, really nice stuff to work with, as you can cut it up with almost any small-toothed saw.- It won't shatter or melt back together like acrylic and similar. It won't keep a good surface though - it scratches incredibly easily.
