SoLiEn
ok, at the venue I work at we have about 200m (minimum) of Small "Fairy Lights". In your opinions, is it wise to set it as a project to either the technicians, or to the students/stage crew, to create their own star cloths? Comments/Opinions welcome.Dan
Maddison
Are they wired in series or parallel? Either way, it is a big undertaking, and may not look that good. But if it is in series, then don't waste your time...

TomLyall
My primary concern would be that the fairy lights are low voltage, other than that, should be fine as long as you make sure the cloth is fireproof (ie: wool surge), etc. Remember you'll want a couple of circuits in each cloth to create any kind of "twinkle" effect. It's also worth being careful to create enough "randomness", this is made even more difficult by using fairy lights as they'll probably have a uniform spacing between lamps, not something you really want! paulears
I tried doing exactly that with students, and I ended up doing most of the work myself. Repetitive tasks like this (and sequin sticking) rate as the worst things ever to do with students!
musht
Hang it in front of blax with a black guaze loosely hung downstage, that will give you the twinkle.
