ianl Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 I have heard the term "half black" used a couple of times recently, could someone confirm what this means? I asume it dosent mean it's grey?if it is refering to size then is there a standard size for a black?
Tom Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 A "Full Black" would be a black curtain, usually made from black wool serge or black velour which stretches the full width of the stage. It could either be on a tab track or flown. A "half black" is only half the width of the stage (or better still, slightly more than half to allow for a bit of overlap). They normally come in pairs, to provide a full width black tab but with a centre opening. There is no standard size, it's fairly venue dependent. A half black on a big stage could well act as a full black on a small stage.
