imengard
Hello from California, I am propping Dracula and need to make a blood transfusion device (simple, actor handling device is not prop handy) The director wants to see the blood flow from one tube to another. Any suggestions would be very helpful.Thank You!
mac.calder
Well. Talk to your local university/medical school - ask to talk to their laboratory technician. They often have these machines, and only use them part of the year (namely for the modules involving them). The lab tech may be able to either get you access to a real one for the duration of the show, or at least allow you to come in and look at one in use so that you can re-create a chasis. Pumping fluids from one location to another is simple - small pumps can be purchased for less than $20, and plastic tubing is fairly cheap as well. Wuddy
How about just a simple syphon arrangement, have the full vessel (yes that's the blood vessel) at a higher point than the empty vessel (that's the noisy one) connected by the tube, pre-prime the tube and stopper the end then removing the stopper will allow the blood to flow. If the vessels are transparent you will see one fill as one empties, as regards seeing the blood flow within the tube, with whatever method you use once the tube is full any perception of flow will be lost
Jivemaster
http://www.spservices.co.uk/product_info.p...roducts_id/2295 http://www.spservices.co.uk/product_info.p...roducts_id/3687 Are UK supplies. There will be something similar in your area. You will need to use something from your locale as it's hard to suspend disbelief if the audience dont know what they are looking at. There really must be a supplier within your state or county. Good search terms are saline infusion and drip together or separately. The "blood" you will have to make from a theatre recipie, Blood, plasma and saline fluids and the iv sharps are more difficult to come by as there is the medical ethics problem! try fitting a "bandage" to the arm containing an empty bag then the "connection" need only be the actor fastening the pipe to the bag and the gore flowing.
