V Large Events

Hi,

 

Does anyone know the companies who organise (rig, design,run) lighting for really big events like the Brits, NEC concerts, Royal Variety performance etc.

 

Am especialy interested if anyone knows the information of the Tour Manager for the Pop Idol tour comming up or the company that is doing the lighting design for the Brits.

well for a start most production companies employe a a Lighting Designer for the event, and then the LD will spec what comany he wants to use, or the Production Manager might have a preference as well. I think u will find the LD for Pop Idol tour will be Pete Barnes, he designed last Pop Idol tour and also all the other big pop groups like S Club, Spice Girls etc...

 

also for the Brits, the LD is normally one of the TV guys and most times it is VLPS supplying.

Try to find out who his Agent is (if he has one) try searching the web for a website or contact plasa or ALD or similar...

We do big stuff, not quite on that scale. More festival biased. 30k punters is the largest to date!

Just wanted to know about who are the big names in the industry adn who they work for. Would love to work on tour and Pop Idol tour was just a random one I thought of.
