TallMike
Buy a second hand BSS FDS960 for about £350! Way better than the opals IMHO. Unless you can find an XTA that fits in your budget? At the top end, the XTA GQ600 is incredibly accurate - although it only offers +/-10db on each band rather than +/-15db on most other units. I should imagine though, if you need to pull out more than 10db (especially at FOH) then you'd want to look at the other kit you're using and ask what's wrong with it!! Rob_Beech
I agree fully with Mike. You really need to look at mic choice and mic placement along with Monitor choice and placement if you are requiring a cut of 10dB let alone needing more. However, I realise Steve was just stating a fact rather than treating it as a disadvantage.
BlueShift
For the cash, I think the BSS Opal graphics are fantastic - they sound great. For more money the XTA and Klark stuff is good. However, I would recommend avoiding Klark 'SquareOne' stuff, not a big fan....
