KeithGinty
Hey I am very desperate for some help.I have just been handed a community rs jnr speakers for repair and to be honest with you I have no idea what driver it takes, I thought I would just open it up and take the old on out get the product code and order a new one but once taking it out I found all it has on it is Eminence. Anybody any ideas? Thanks I advance.
mackerr
I would think the first move would be to contact Community and see what they say. Are you sure you have the original driver? Mac
Simon Lewis
Furthermore, it is quite common for enclosure loudspeaker manufacturers to use third party drivers made to their specification. Although your HF unit may be made by Eminence, it could be a standard unit but selected from a large batch to meet a higher specification, or simply a bespoke driver. If either of these are true, you will only get a suitable replacement from Community. The more expensive the loudspeaker, the less likely that you can simply drop another drive unit into it :-(
Furryface
Just to backup Simon's comments about third-party drivers. Cabinet Manufacturers may well use a specialist transducer company to either manufacture drivers for them, or they may alternatively take one of the shelf but with tighter tolerances or higher performance. Best to contact Community's UK distributor http://www.cuk-audio.com/ and ask them what you need Have fun F
mal421
I think it may be an Eminence PSD2002 . I recently opened up a Community RS and the compression driver look ever inch an Eminence unit to me . Perhaps the Jnr has the same driver ?

Perhaps it is.... but given the comments above, how do you know that it's not a specially selected version or with a bespoke diaphragm?
stu00c
Hi There, The HF driver in the RSJR and RS220 is a Community HFE1, which I believe was manufactured for Community by Eminence. Complete HFE1 drivers are still available from stock, but unfortunately diaphragms are not. I have had customers who have used Eminence PSD2002 8ohm diaphragms in the past and they said they worked well, although I haven't tried it myself so cannot guarantee this solution. One possible complication that anyone with RS series products should be aware of is that an upgrade kit was available allowing you to replace the HFE1 with Community's more recent VHF100 driver, so always check the model of driver before ordering parts in case they aren't what you need. Obviously in this case, the rear cover of the driver bears the Eminence logo, so won't be the VHF100. If you need any more assistance or pricing info, please give the office a call on 0141 440 5333 and someone will be more than happy to help.
