richard
One other thing - does anyone know how much a normal (8x4) sheet of steeldeck weighs? Thanks Richard
robloxley
It depends greatly on what you top it with - high quality birch ply weighs a lot more than cheap ply.

robloxley
Steeldeck reckon that an 8x4 deck topped in 3/4" standard ply weighs 70kg; I'd reckon on closer to 80kg with birch ply.
Steve Macluskie
Steeldeck safety manual here Steeldeck Safety Manual Interesting to note that the safety manual also states that "Always use at least four legs. Never set up Steeldeck Platforms with fewer than four legs per deck. Use of Steeldeck Platforms with fewer than four legs is unsafe and creates a risk of collapse" and "Stages built over four feet high must be cross-braced with horizontal and diagonal lengths of 1 1/2 Schedule 40 pipe for stability and safe use" Everyone is following these manufacturers recommendations to the letter I asume? Tom Baldwin
Interesting to note that the safety manual also states that "Always use at least four legs. Never set up Steeldeck Platforms with fewer than four legs per deck. Use of Steeldeck Platforms with fewer than four legs is unsafe and creates a risk of collapse" It's also interesting to note that the same document contradicts this point on page 4, and this is again contradicted in point 7 on this page! ;) Methinks Steeldeck need to make their advice a little more consistent?
