I have used Betapack 2 lots, but have heard some good things about stand 6pack.

Hi Alex

You might like to take a look at this topic before trying to purchase any Strand products at the moment.

With regards the Betapack 2, please be aware that this has now been superceeded with the Betapack 3, details of which are available here.

I'm not getting paid, its for us to use the equipment at events the youth council I'm on have coming up, and various youth events, and churches to have access to, instead of us hiring we will have the kit which in the long term will save us money.

I did hear something about strand merging, but was not 100% sure. The council got a £2500 bid, but that includes

12par cans

2 stands

dimmers

cables

socapex

bulbs

safety chains

clamps

I found the dimmers BETAPACK 2 for a nice price on 10outof10, and need to keep within budget, so thats why im curious.

Although having said betapack 3 that is also of a nice price.

thanks

alex

Just out of interest which BR terms are involved in purchasing things? Surely the BR is at best a 3rd party source of information, advice and contacts (unless you are buying the swag!).

Do the paying customers to whom you're supplying this equipment know that you're asking a public internet forum for advice on what equipment to supply? :D
Thought that was kind of the point of forums such as this?

Part of the point is as a place to ask technical questions, yes. But the way that five_pin originally phrased the question implied that he'd provided a potential customer with a quote for the supply of a dimmer rack to an end customer - and my point was that if I was that end customer I'd be quite annoyed if I found out that my supplier had been asking for help and advice with basic equipment selection on a public forum.

This is rather an unusual thread. Posting 'what should I buy' questions always brings up commercialism queries. In this case, members allegiance to certain brand was brought up, thank you Ian - relating to MR AC on MR Zero, then it goes around and the OP buys Zero from AC!

With my mod hat firmly off, this just goes to show that people's personal allegiances, preferences, likes and dislikes just help people form opinion - in this case, a happy ending. I guess what I'm saying here is "does it really matter" - people sit back and read. In the end they make a choice. Even the really silly posts we often get like "I'd buy a acme XZY gizmo from Give Us your money Ltd because my brother runs it and they're great" don't really make us rush to buy it. Proper, useful comment helps us all - in this case, having a non-br name at AC in a thank you post is probably worth more, post sale, than a pre sale plug!

Just my thoughts!

Paul
