Brian
Ethernet RJ45 sockets appearing in new installations around the stageEspecially with the advent of 'power over ethernet' where up to 48 volts can appear.XLR-4...110V down them...and sleeve/earth as earthWould not be allowed over here, would fail CE marking tests.think I'll go invent me a unique 6pole connectorNot really necessary, the RS and Farnell catalogues are full of multipole connectors. I can think of at least a dozen ranges which would suit the needs and which could be used safely. However, given the wide-spread use of the Bulgin connector, unless there was going to be an industry wide concensus to adopt a new connector, I don't see much point in changing. The one place I could see it working would be to leave the bulgins on the pods along with short 'isolation' tails and then use a different connector for your longer cable runs. This would get away from any concerns about modifying the pods. At least like that you could make up male to female extension leads avoiding the need for 'back to back' boxes.
