Ken Coker
Is it: Shut the console downWait for the "You may now turn off the console" promptHit any key on the qwerty keyboard. Can't guarantee this, but I'd be happy to know the answer too. Cheers Ken
gareth
In Ken's post, replace "any key" with "Ctrl-X".

Bryson
Not quite! The 300 doesn't display a "you may now turn off the console" prompt. It just turns off. (I tried it yesterday.) So, we need to try again...
eamon
Not quite! The 300 doesn't display a "you may now turn off the console" prompt. It just turns off. (I tried it yesterday.) So, we need to try again... The thing to do is as soon as you shut the console down through the menu softkeys, start hitting "Q" repeatedly on the keyboard until the dos window comes up. This interrupts the consoles shut down proceedure & brings you to where you want to go.I am not sure why "Q" but it always works for me. To restore, type OS and it should bring you back to the normal layout. hope that helps eamon
strand600X
you could try booting it up into the cmd mode by pressing F8 as it is turning on and it will ask a load of questions just keep saying yes untill it asks to execute autoexec.bat then answer nowhen you do this it is in dos mode
Ken Coker
There must be an answer to this! The manual suggests: "To get to DOS during start up, press Ctrl and Break together as soon as the start up screenappears." From 300 and 500 manual Cheers Ken :) - broken link fixed. MarcT
Eamon is right - I was on the Strand Genius Pro operators course fairly recently & we were told to hit Q during shutdown to get the 300 series into DOS. Q = Quit ??? Marc
