  1. This is the circuit Cedd referred to
  2. The pulse / multicomp go noisy fairly quickly, the Rean version stays silent for very much longer. The pulse version maintains it's latch grip even on worn chassis plugs, however the Rean tends to silently pop out of a worn chassis plug. The best reliability seems to be Rean line sockets and prompt replacement of any worn chassis plugs. I have no experience of the Switchcraft offerings. This is based on 12 years use of around 25 Trantec beltpacks. Brian
  3. I'm pretty sure the software is windows only. Brian
  4. Tim Have you loaded the DME-N network driver to your I-pad. It is critical that the version of this driver matches your ios. When you run the advanced settings, does the LS9 appear? If so add this to the device list (UNIT 1) Then in the LS9 Editor, Setup Midi Settings -- set the input and output ports to UNIT 1 and check that in Modify Workspace that LS9 shows in the workspace. Then run LS9 and check File System Setup that the Input and output ports are UNIT 1 Hopefully yo should now show online. Brian
  5. There should be no drift problem as they should be crystal controlled. As a rule crystal controlled equipment creeps very slightly downward with age though the rate of creep decreases after the first few years. The three frequencies you indicate work well together.
  6. Yes it does give an error message. I have also tried re-booting many times. I am hopeful that Yamaha will be able to sort out the problem.
  7. Hi Ian Unfortunately this doesn't work as the installer detects the old version and stops the install. I am currently waiting for Yamaha to send an installer that will hopefully remove the old version. Brian
  8. If only it we that easy. It won't uninstall, presumably something to do with the Windows operating system being upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 I have been installing and de-installing Yamaha Editor + DME software with no problems since 2007. This is the first time it has been a problem. Has anyone else come unstuck like this?
  9. I recently upgraded my computer from windows 7 to windows 10. I found that I can't connect to Yamaha LS 9 mixer as the DME driver is out of date. Yamaha have issued an updated DME driver. The question is what is the correct way to install the new driver? It won't install over the existing version and I can't remove it using Uninstall. Am I missing something. I haven't found anything helpful on the Yamaha website. Brian
  10. I'm looking for someone to reprogram some Audio Technica ATW 701 series channel 38 beltpacks and receivers. Any ideas? Brian

    Trantec S5

To be clear, the length is critical to performance, this is the tuning of the aerial to the right frequency band. The effective diameter of the cable much less so as it only affects the bandwidth of the aerial. The whole thing is a compromise as the proximity of a body dramatically alters everything. Brian
  12. Your wiring appears to be correct with one exception. Pin 4 should also be connected to pin 3 on the microphone connector. This provides the bias to the microphone. A small solder blob is the usual answer. Brian Beaten to the post by Sandall
  13. Also for Windows, Multiplay from Blue Room's own David Duffy. It is simple to use and free. Download at Da-share.com here. Beta Release Info The latest beta release is stable, Ver3.158. Brian
  14. Ian How far back from the stage are these mics and how far spaced from the centre line? Brian
  15. There is one advantage of using line level rather than mic level. If the cable loses one leg then you lose 6dB either way, but with line level the resulting increase in noise is much less likely to be noticeable, and is helpful when you can't easily run a replacement cable. Brian
  16. The generally used pilot tone frequency is around 32 KHz, this being a subdivision of the synthesizer used as part of the RF frequency generation process. Possibly 5 x 6.25 = 31.25 ? Brian
  17. Hi Trantec S5.3 and S5.5 are capable of being programmed in 25 KHz steps (single channel mode) as well as using the pre-programmed banks. Program the receiver via the front panel menu and then pair the transmitter via the infra-red link. The main difference between the two models is the tuneable bandwidth. Brian
  18. I have used the following 6 frequencies with Trantec S5.5 without any problems. S5.3 should be the same. 863.1, 863.4, 863.95, 864.225, 864.55, 864.925. Theoretically the are a bit tight but worth a try.If there is any noticable interaction, remove 864.225 and the remaining 5 will be ok. Brian
  19. It's worth remembering that 3/8 Whitworth threads are interchangeable with 3/8 UNC. Stockists of Whitworth nuts and bolts are becoming rarer but UNC seem readily available.
  20. Like this sort of thing here I have used a similar unit to both operate the board mutes directly and to switch radio mics ( at both mic and line level) when short of inputs. It was easy to program using the midi mutes facility in Multiplay. No problems were found with clicks. Brian
  21. Oh I just dropped a clanger, its actually root 20 = 4.47 volts so just carry on with Sunrays circuit and turn the volume down a bit, a 1/4 resistor has still plenty of margin. Brian
  22. If transformer is for 8 ohm speaker then max output is just shy of 3 volts so as the resistors are 1k , worst case 3x3/1000 = 9 milliWatts If you use the 2.5 watt transformer the output will be 20 volts so increase the input resistor to 6k8 and all will be well with 1/4 watt resistors. Brian
  23. Another useful source https://www.avontapdie.co.uk/about-us I'm lucky he is only 5 min drive. Brian
  24. The Thomman one that Simon referred to https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_free_solo_antenna_splitter.htm works well. I have a couple and know others who are happy with them Brian
  25. Another one using XP, I have 2 dedicated laptops, main and standby. I could migrate but would loose several other very useful programs. Brian I was having a discussion with David about the possibility of more than one action per cue. One of David's concerns was the backward compatibility of Productions. So who needs to re-use previous productions and who would prefer to have a clean start with the new version and possibly some more advanced facilities? Brian
