  1. Hi all I’m not that familiar with video walls, so any guidance would be appreciated. I’ve been donated an old p10 3 led (RGB) wall and I’m trying to get it working. The wall is one I used to borrow from time to time so I know the equipment is all capable of working together, the reason I got the wall is the owner didn’t need it anymore and couldn’t get it working for some reason. The wall had a linsen sender and each cabinet had a receiver card, I suspected that the sender had broken so I bought a Novostar mctrl300 sender and a novastar receiver card to test but all I get is gibberish on screen, sometimes the screen kind of reacts to movement in the source but nothing remotely like the source. This is the same issue with the original linsen cards and the new cards, I suspect that some of settings in the original cabinet were lost and these settings are not present in the Novostar software yet. I have tried smart setup but it doesn’t complete successfully. I’m stuck on what to try next. I think it is the led module settings which are missing on the receiver card. Any thoughts?
  2. I would highly recommend Roland I have a HD 800mk2 and love it. There are bigger models out there from them but I’m very impressed with it. I too hate analog way.
  3. Good idea, yes is pricy but the model of player we are using is without the usb interface, if it did have usb a simple number keypad wold be ideal. Looking at it I think making something is going to be the end result, I was hoping for a pre made unit I could just stick a Phoenix connector on and off we go.
  4. I'm not sure these are the right look for this project. Was hoping to find a site which might have a number of styles. Thanks for the response.
  5. Sorry, common ground is fine. I need it to be power free as I don't have any easy power available. I don't know what power is in the circuit but it will be as low as it goes. The player is a brightsign HD unit. Thanks
  6. Hi All I'm looking for a supply of pre made push to close button units with 9 or so buttons. I have a number of audio players with a trigger connector where I want to give the client a push button to trigger, I need 60 units so would prefer not to make them. Something like a number keypad would be ideal but all I can find is a matrix style resistance connector but I need simple push to close. Any ideas on a good place to start? Thanks
  7. Don’t think unf is compatible with bsw, a few years back I was trying to find the correct bolt for mics and also cameras to attach them to things and I tried most things before getting the correct tread.
  8. Not a straight forward way of doing it not possibly one of these https://www.k-m.de/en/products/keyboard-stands/column-stands/18864-threaded-bolt-set-for-spider-pro-black-zinc-plated And one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M10-to-M8-FEMALE-REDUCER-ZINC-THREADED-BAR-ROD-STUD-CONNECTOR-METRIC-THREAD-/201212404529?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Or you could take a mic clip and drill and tap the 3/8 thread to m10
  9. Hi All I'm having issues communicating some installation plans. I'm a great believer in fag packet diagrams but this is proving more difficult on recent projects as they are getting more complex. What are you using to make simple wiring and kit diagrams? I don't need or want free but I don't really want a subscription option as these are not required very often. Thanks
  10. You can if both units are in the same channel range and on the same frequency.
  11. I’ve seen a picture of the battery compartment and it is a pp3 in the rear.
  12. This looks a nice bit of kit. Would defiantly work for this situation. I would go for a reasonable external mic. Small mixer with eq and this unit. Should be able to do it for about £150 if looking at budget end kit, but this will offer an adjustable improvement on what is already used.
  13. I was using sharks 15 years ago, great little box in terms of features but they were very Behringer in the day. Not sure if they have been updated, they don’t look like they are any different, I wouldn’t use them through choice. I would go with a nice mic and small mixing desk, the only issue I don’t know is getting it in to the phone.
  14. I’ve just watched your video on my iPhone and it sounded pretty decent, it is quite bass heavy but not to the point it causes any issues, and it adds a deep soothing to your voice. I think the easiest improveement would be using a good quality external mic, you say your using a mic as a fix, how are you getting it in to your phone?
  15. Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to go with the cloud option, I missed it when looking at cloud in the first place. Although as pointed out it only does switching and only mic one can be muted on a per zone basis, mic 2 is global, it actually works for this. I forgot I do have a clearone device sitting on the shelf, an 800 if I recall, but I’m not feeling brave and not sure the customer would like a 10+ year old price of kit. I did think of a bss BLU 50 which I have used in the past, it would do more than I need on this project But cost came in to it. Thanks for the suggestions.
  16. After a bit of product advice please. I'm trying to get a 4 input mixer or mixer amp with 30-50w output. ideally 2 xlr (line or mic) and 2 x Stereo phone with 2 zone outs which can be controlled via either serial or IP ir IR at a push. I need it for 2 meeting rooms which have a dividing and will need to work together when the wall is open. Any pointers of what kit to look at. Thanks
  17. If your player has tactical buttons you could rewire to a connector for a foot switch.
  18. Hi David. I’m not sure usb mics are a thing, I’ve not seen anything out there. I would think your likely to find something which is Bluetooth. I would get any microphone and run it through a usb audio capture device. I use a black magic web presenter, which does video as well. Not cheep but there are many audio only budget options out there.
  19. Not Sure what you mean? I'm sat in front of it and can test
  20. Thank you Tim. the hex 02 41 54 4F 3B worked. I've tried for a couple of evenings concentrating on the text sting and it didn’t work. \x02ATO; Didn’t work 02 41 54 4F 3B Did :-) Thank you so Much !!!
  21. Thanks Tim for the reply. No this did not work, I had previously tried 20H on the front instead of stx as the manual says that it the hex. Not really understanding why I was doing it! but it didn’t work anyway.
  22. Hi All I'm trying to control a Roland v-800hd vision mixer via RS232. Ultimately I would like to use a streamdeck via companion but I'm stuck getting the Roland to accept the commands, I keep getting ERR:0 returned which is syntax error. I'm using an iTach ip2sl ip to serial convertor and the supplied iTest software to test the commands. I can control an NEC projector using hex codes, so I know the hardware, cable and my process is working at least for hex codes. The Roland is asking for Ascii commands and gives stxATO; as the command to do an Auto Take The Roland manual states this "stx This is the ASCII code signal name (code number 02H [hexadecimal]) and code that signals the command start. Your device’s stx command may not be the ASCII letters “stx” or “02H”. Refer to your RS-232 controller’s manual to send proper command." Sending stxATO; or ATO; doesn’t work so I assume that the ip2sl uses something else to indicate the start of the command, but I'm lost as to what, I can't find anything on the net to help. Any pointers would be great, I'm not great with serial commands unless I'm copying and pasting!
  23. Thanks. The site gave me that kind of impression, a developers baby is always better updated and they tend to be responsive and open to ideas. Just had a play with companion and it works a dream, you can play instantly any given cue which is what I want for live shows. Hope you get back to it soon, I’m just getting some enquires in for next year now So hoping it will be better than this! Thanks for the great suggestion, I owe you one. Thanks
  24. Thank you both for these suggestions. I've looked and tried Qlab in the past and although it works well and does everything I need, it also does much much more which only serves to confuse me, as I only use it every few months or so. Mitti is one I've never looked at, 2012 is when I started using Playback Pro so not really looked around since then, as it did everything I needed. I've downloaded Mitti and spent an hour with it and it's perfect, simple and easy to use and I just about know what everything does and how it works, which is not bad for an hour. It's fairly priced and think it’s the way forward for me, I'd say it is better for me than Playback pro. There's a few things I'd ideally see like a blackout on the external monitor only, as the fader also does the preview screen and I'd like to be able to map cues to a keyboard or a StreamDeck, but these are bonuses only. David Lee how have you found its stability? It crashed on me once during the first hour, but to be honest I was dragging and dripping and clicking around much faster than you would do in any live environment. Thanks again for the great suggestions.
  25. Hi all. I’m looking for a simple video playback cart for Mac. Been using playback pro occasionally for years but not currently available for latest version of Mac OSX What’s needed is simple drag and drop cart layout with ability to change volume of each file to balance out. A bonus would be edit start and end but not essential. Any recommendations please Thanks
