  1. Thanks v much, I believe both the Tascam options are only stereo / dual mono, and not capable of multi-track recording. The JoeCo BBR64 might well be the way forward for this job though (slightly more than I'd hoped to pay, but I've always been impressed with the quality of their stuff in the past) I'm trying to avoid sticking a desk in due to space constraints and just needing something very simple for the venue to operate by hitting record and stop. Thanks again Martin
  2. Hi all, I'm looking for a simple multi-channel recording device (really only needs a record and a stop button, and potentially a remaining storage space indicator) Ideally something self contained that I can pop an ethernet cable from a Dante network into one end and either an SD card or USB stick or similar into the other that I can use as a very simple device to just capture the multitrack audio as a simple backup to run alongside a laptop tracking to a DAW (hope that makes sense) Is anyone aware of anything that might accomplish this? Thanks very much, Martin

    Thomann purchases

As said it's now the price you see, is the price you pay. It's slower now than it used to be, so do allow a few extra days for processing and shipping. I believe they're doing shuttle type deliveries to a UK distribution centre so they handle the import side of thing, then forwarding it on from a UK warehouse.
  4. Thanks all, really helpful, I think I might grab a couple of the Thomann ones and give them a whirl (I've got plenty of time to make a final decision and at that price, it doesn't really matter if they just get chucked in the 'useful spare bits' box) If not I'll probably grab some of the M5's. Thanks again. Martin
  5. Thanks very much all. Based on this, and a few suggestions through Facebook, I think the M5's might be the way forward. Thanks again.
  6. Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations of affordable, versatile and (critically) robust pencil condenser mics. I'm looking to get hold of 16 matching mics that can be used by students for various live applications (across various instruments within a typical musical theatre pit environment) Budget won't stretch to a box of DPA's or similar, and I'd be reluctant to entrust any very expensive mics to students. No fixed budget in mind at this juncture, and no brand allegiance, as long as they're readily available in the UK. Thanks all.
  7. I am deeply saddened at the news of this event. I know / have worked with some of the people involved in this event, and my thoughts are with them, their families and friends at this time. I am not qualified to comment on the failiure(s) that resulted in this event, nor do I think that there is enough evidence available as of yet to do so anyway. I hope that in due course the root causes of this incident will be uncovered, and if appropriate, lessons learned. Regards, Martin
