Karel Bata
I've tried many, and boy are they variable! So, what's the best, stickiest gaffa tape? Any tips on making some work even better? Cheers! http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
andy_s
Gaffer tape is graded according to adhesive qualities. If you speak to suppliers such as Lemark they will be able to advise you as to which is lo-tack and which hi-tack. This is probably better than relying on anecdotal evidence on an internet forum. Unless it is funny stories about how we gaffered the apprentice to the ceiling that you are after. (disclaimer: I have not done this and would not recommend it) Bear in mind that stickiest is not necessarily best. It may cause damage that will make you very unpopular with the venue owner. Karel Bata
Right now I want the stickiest. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif I see Advance do gaffer tape and duct tape. What's the difference? Ah, a Google tells me comparison

That webpage is from a particular manufacturer and I am not sure would necessarily be true for all manufacturers.
andy_s
Right now I want the stickiest. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif well in my experience, the cheaper the tape, the stickier it is. but this is of course purely anecdotal... kgallen
Duck from Screwfix is sticky but horrible to use (doesn't tear nicely, needs scissors/knife), stringy adhesive. Advance from Stage Electrics is lovely (and all I ever use for stage work). The only thing it won't stick to reliably is the rendered painted wall inside our hall (and that's fine because we rarely need to do that!). As long as you take the tape off the object (not the object off the tape) then I find it can be removed without damage or residue. This seems consistent with the comparison you found. nuttytechy
I have found using Gorilla Gaffa Tape works well but that is what I buy myself from B and Q for work. I do keep it on me at all times otherwise I will never see it again ** laughs out loud **.
timmeh2
Hi +1 for the Advance tape. It has an attractive matt finish which is perfect for taping down cables. And it's low residue and doesn't leave sticky gunk on them either. All the bestTimmeh

Poundland tape is horrible, super sticky but disintegrates when it's pulled off. It's always a delight when a dry hire customer has been making liberal use of it. paulears
I've always bought the cheaper tape from CPC - but the latest lot is pretty nasty stuff. More plastic that cloth. The previous supplies from them have always been good, but this last lot is horrible. If it helps - this is the description to avoid.Manufacturer: PRO POWERManufacturer Part No: AGT50X50WHTOrder Code: CB19320Product Range Pro-Power Gaffer Tapes Oddly - this isn't the cheapest one, and frankly I didn't realise it would be nastier. It was £3.12 +VAT so not even dirt cheap.
the kid
We love progaff for cases and marking. I think a touch more costly than standard lemark stuff though.
