ABTT announce MSER seminar

Theatrical Pyrotechnics - an overview of The Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations 2005.

21st September 2005, 4.30pm, CAA, 20 Bedford Street, Covent Garden, London

Dr Tom A. K. Smith from the CBI Explosives Industry Group and Lincoln Parkhouse of Just FX, will lead the seminar.

The Manufacture Storage of Explosive Regulations introduced in April this year brings some fundamental changes to the way small quantities of explosives, including pyrotechnics, are stored. Local Authorities now have powers to revoke or refuse licenses and registrations (such power was not previously granted to them) but the Regulations state that the Authority shall register the applicant unless:

- the place where the proposed storage is to take place is unsuitable, or

- the person registering is “not a fit personâ€.

The new Regulations will supersede and revoke much of the 1875 Explosives Acts and make Explosives Safety Management risk based instead of being entirely prescriptive. However, the changes are to be welcomed and they should enhance safety in Theatres and other places where this material is stored.

Theatres should be clear of the hazard types of the material they are storing.

If you intent to be present please contact the ABTT office@abtt.org.uk
