d&b Audioteknik D12 power supply issue. Relays chatter when the unit is powered on.

Hi,

I'm looking for some help with a power issue I have on a d&b Audioteknik D12. The unit powers on as normal but once the relays click on they start to chatter like crazy and then the amp trips the power.

I've got some new relays on order and nothing looks burnt out on the power supply board, the main fuses to the unit test out fine but I'm wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue in the past and where to start when looking to locate the issue as there no service manuals available from d&b.

Did you have any luck getting to the bottom of this issue? I have 2 x D12 amps that both have the same problem.

I've no idea about how these work, but I had this symptom on a Teac amp where the relays had their own power supply. The smoothing capacitor on the relay PSU was drying up and had reduced in value so that it was no longer smoothing properly. When measured it was around 10% of the value that it should have been.
