SoundCraft Vi StageBox

Hey all.

I have a Vi3000 and Vi stage box.

The issue I'm having is the cards in the Vi Stagebox are starting to fail, I've had to replace 2 already. Now I've been told by Soundcraft that these are non repairable items, so have to be replaces with new ones. Not a cheap replacement!

My question is does anyone know of anyone who repairs the cards themself that are UK based?

Many Thanks

I have always been of the opinion - that if it has been made, it can be mended, but companies often don't make this easy.

With each card having 8 microphone amplifiers on it - I can certainly imagine that complete new replacements are expensive.

What is the exact nature of the failures that you are experiencing? Often with stage box designs, with remote control of pads and Phantom, sensitive areas of the microphone amplifiers can be damaged, despite being protected. Are you just losing the odd microphone input?

Does anyone have a schematic diagram for this product?

I'm sure they should be repairable too. I'm surprised they don't do an exchange when you buy a replacement for a failed card. They're not far on a grand a piece to replace.

Generally I loose the entire card at a similar time, so I loose control of most of the aspects across all the inputs and get white noise across all channels as well. The one that I'm looking to replace at the moment has either a completely dead channel or white noise being outputted down the channel. I replaced 2 before Christmas with the same faults. I'll have to go and have a look as we've just been avoiding using the card all together and cant fully remember what the full symptoms are, but I do know its globally across the card.

If you move the card to a different slot in the rack the issues/symptoms follow.  Its in an install so the racks never moved, and the patch very rarely changes.
