Backcloths

Hi,

 

Not really sure what category this comes under but this seemed more appropriate!

 

Looking to purchase some backcloths, 14 foot drop ideally, 18 foot at a push, approx 30 foot wide. Looking for a variety of different scenes and stuff that doesnt crack after a lot of rolling.

 

Any know anywhere that maybe selling off stock or amdram groups that maybe getting rid of stuff?

Well if you have a whole bunch of time - go to a fabric shop and buy a bunch of cloth and sew... One of our actors mums made a cyc for our theatre, the thing comes in five pieces and worked a treat - not as great as something custom made (ie anything bigger than the standard bolt of cloth is usually not cheap), but it cost AU$140 with a lot of sweet talking. It was a 21' drop, 36' wide. Don't plan to make it in a few hours though. This one took (to the best of my knowledge) 4 days to get the 5 pieces together, appearing seamless.

 

Try local theatres though - often they will have old backdrops they no longer need. Then you can coat in another paint.
