Position: Service Engineer – Audio Equipment
Location: Leeds

Role
Audio-Technica wants to recruit an experienced Service Engineer to join our Technical support team who can bring a high level of audio engineering and diagnostic skills to our Service workshop in Leeds.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated individual with experience in a similar role to carry out the timely and accurate testing and repairing of Audio-Technica and its distributed brands (Allen & Heath, Optimal Audio, Audio Pro Business, Artnovion) for customers in the UK and distributors across EMEA. Repairs include mixing desks, turntables, microphones, headphones and wireless systems, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements and Company Policies whilst meeting agreed Service Level stands

As a key member of the team you must be very organized and able to prioritise a busy and dynamic workload. You should set high standards of workmanship with great attention to detail and be able to communicate well with stakeholders at all levels to provide effective support across the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair product faults for products within and outside their warranty period.
  • Repair products to component level, where appropriate, using available schematics and service manuals.
  • Repair products to PCB level, where appropriate, using available service manuals.
  • Test products to full factory specifications and ensure all features are working as expected, to agreed levels of standard and compliance after repair.
  • Liaise with Technical Product Specialists to obtain further technical information on a product repair where required.
  • Provide regular updates to Customer Service on Product Repairs, with a full report upon completion to facilitate the smooth processing of approving costs and returning goods to customer.
  • Conduct regular service part stock counts to ensure stocking levels are accurate and sufficient.
  • Conduct regular Service Centre stock counts to ensure on hand stock levels are accurate and items can be returned to saleable stock as quickly as possible.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times.
  • Inspect Products returned to stock from Loan Stock and ensure product is complete/refurbished and maintains a commercial value before returning back into a Saleable stock.
  • Assist the ATS Manager to determine initial spare parts orders for new product releases.
  • Assist the ATS Manager to determine final spare parts orders for discontinued items.
  • Perform Quality Assurance on New Stock as required by ATS Manager and Product Management.
  • Perform Firmware updates on stock as requested by ATS Manager or Product/Brand Managers
  • Undertake any training or development required to ensure up-to-date product knowledge, continued ability to carry out the requirements of the job role and general management development.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Audio Equipment Repair experience and/or qualification in Electronic & Electrical
  • Engineering, Audio Engineering or equivalent Experience of controlled environment testing & measurement of products
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets and/or databases
  • Ability to learn new technologies and software quickly
  • Experience in using and understanding of digital and analogue audio products
  • Excellent communicator with a high level of interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to providing an outstanding customer experience
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks, working under pressure to meet deadlines and customer needs
  • High level analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of technical schematics and manuals
  • Organised & methodical with excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks, working under pressure to meet deadlines and customer needs

Desireable

  • Comprehensive knowledge & understanding of Audio-Technica products & its distributed brands
  • Understanding of IT networking
  • Service Experience with DSP systems
