Fixed Term Contract: Early April – Early August 2022

We are looking for a Technical Production Manager to work at our summer festivals in Cavendish Square and Earls Court, London. The successful applicant will assist the production department in the planning and delivery of all technical elements of the venues. They will work closely with all venue technical staff to ensure the continued high production values audiences have come to expect from Underbelly, and to fulfil the technical requirements of all of our visiting companies.

Job Purpose

• Crewing and management of venues with technical staff.
• Liaising with visiting companies on production schedules, arranging equipment sub-hires, and ensuring their technical needs are met.
• Collation and administration of risk assessments and other necessary paperwork for all companies and performances within the venues.
• Management of quotes and hire contracts with suppliers within budgets.
• Ensure all production activity adheres to risk assessments and good health and safety practices.
• Delivery on the design and distribution of venue technical specifications.
• Assist with and participate in the build & strike management of the venues & site.
• Liaise with Underbelly Producing team regarding Underbelly Productions, including technical requirements and show budgets.

Essential Skills

• 3-5 years’ work experience in a relevant field, specifically technical/production management of theatre and events.
• Operating knowledge of modern lighting, sound, and AV equipment.
• Have experience of rigging in a temporary venue environment.
• Strong planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in team management, with good communication and motivational skills.
• Quick, creative thinking and problem solving, with confidence and independent decision making under pressure.
• Disciplined and resourceful with restricted, specific budgets.
• Proven ability to establish networks within the arts and support the needs of artists.
• Competency with Microsoft Office, Apple OS, QLab, and other industry relevant software.
• Enjoy working in a busy festival environment with a varied and challenging programme of shows.

Desirable Skills

• Full clean driving licence.
• Experience of working at height with a fall arrest system.
• Competency with CAD drawing software.
• Knowledge of circus rigging and performance.
• Interest and enthusiasm for the arts in all its forms.

Terms

The rate of pay is £710/week based on a 6 day week. (£800 if you are invoicing as a self-employed freelancer). You should be available to work for the entire period.
