VDC also do a black video multicore: http://www.vdctrading.com/products.asp?SubSectionID=3#p36 Is the cable for install or stage use? The smaller red series VD cable you discribe is install grade, and not really up to stage use. The larger multicore is really nice to coil and isn't even that heavy (its coax...).
