BlackMagic SDI Distribution

I've got a BlackMagic SmartHub and one of the outputs is going through a BlackMagic SDI to Analog converter. Potentially silly question, but if I then try to distribute that Analog signal to multiple places using a BlackMagic SDI distributor, will the signal stay as Analog or will the SDI distributor automatically switch it back to SDI? If it does, what's the best analog distributor to use? I only need 8 video outputs, no audio required.

The SDI distribution amp will do nothing with it. It will not magically convert it back to SDI or anything like that.

 

What type of analogue signal are you converting to? Composite? Component? That will decide what kind of Distribution Amplifier you need.

The SDI Distribution won't accept the analogue input. You need an analogue distribution amp, plenty available for not many pennies these days.

Thank you both - I'm converting it to Composite as all of the monitors in the venue are different and composite is the only format they all accept natively. Thanks for all your help.

Then you are in luck. A composite DA can be split using either a composite DA, a Component DA or an RGBHV DA - in fact component and RGBHV DA's will give you multiple composite DA's in one - as you can use each colour channel independently.
