Screen Monkey 4.0 will not load in Windows 8.1

How do you get Screen Monkey 4.0 to open in Windows 8.1? I keep getting a Screen Monkey error message about halfway through loading that says a file couldn't open. Version 4.0 opens on my Windows 10 laptop fine, but not my theatre's Windows 8.1 machine. I've gotten no answer from support on this issue and I am getting desperate!

Try running it in compatability mode for Windows7?

You can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free if you have a licensed version of 7 or 8. Have a look at this page. Rest assured that it is all above board and it works perfectly. I upgraded a couple of laptops earlier this year without any problems.

Still works (though the vast number of updates means it takes several hours, even on fast fibre) - just updated two Win-7 & one Vista laptops - now trying to get my head round all the things that Win-10 does differently
