Bad signal form a karaoke converter

Hi folks, I hope I've posted this in the right place.

 

I've got a Citronic KD1 karaoke CDG converter and a Citronic twin CD player (CD2). The converter takes the digital signal from the from the CD players and converts it into into the video signal for a TV.

 

Some colour is missing from the the picture on the TV, and there is pink fuzzing aroung the words and graphics.

 

As this appears to be analogue type noise does this indicate that the problem lies in the converter as opposed to the CD players? I am assuming that the CD players do not convert the digital CD signal to analogue, to send it out again as digital.

 

I ask this because this is the replacement converter I've just been sent because of the same problem with the old one.
